Music to Lift Our Spirits! 

Usually by now I have planned all of the anthems, songs, and hymns our Parish Choir will sing for the coming "year" and the excitement of a new season of rehearsals and singing builds. Well, "life happened" and like everyone else I'm having to do a lot of improvisation (and not always in the musical sense!). Planning nowadays is done week-by-week, and although it has been frustrating, it has made me rethink my role as a music minister and explore different ways to share music with our community.

Like many of you, I have missed singing certain hymns/songs at Mass. Don't get me wrong, everything we've sung at our live-stream Masses has been wonderful, but there is still a bit of a void. So, how can we hear and sing along with those songs we've been missing? Over the next few weeks, I invite you to submit three favorite hymns/songs regardless if they’re in the RitualSong Hymnal or not. Here's the anda one anda two:

1. If you can’t remember the title, plug a few key words into the search bar at hymnary.org

2. Send them to me at [email protected] 

I will make a series of videos of your favorites and make them available on our Facebook page and in the Sacred Music section of our website. Until we are able to sing again, I encourage you to prayerfully reflect on the hymn texts and let them guide you through this uncertain time.
